Baltimore, MD- The Baltimore Orioles exploded for four runs in the eighth inning, snapping a 2-2 tie, and went on to beat the Tigers, 6-2, at Memorial Stadium.
The Orioles strung together five hits, a walk, a wild pitch and a sacrifice bunt to cobble together four runs after the Tigers scored twice in the seventh inning to tie the game, 2-2.
Chris Zachary (6-2) took the loss in relief.
Dick McAuliffe and Aurelio Rodriguez each had two hits for Detroit (79-54), which saw its lead in the AL East shaved to 3.5 games over surging Boston.
