Chicago, IL- The Chicago White Sox cranked out 14 hits and starting pitcher Dave Lemonds drove in two runs with a bases loaded single in a 10-1 rout of the Tigers at Comiskey Park.
Dick Allen started the scoring for the Chisox with a solo home run in the first inning, tying the game, 1-1. Lemonds' single made the score 3-1 in the fourth, and the White Sox poured it on, including a four-run fifth inning that knocked out Tigers starter Tom Timmermann (7-8).
With one out in the fifth, six straight White Sox hitters reached base, signaling the end of a rare short outing for Timmermann.
Carlos May had four hits (two doubles) and scored three times for Chicago, which is now 5-1 against the Tigers this season. Mike Andrews also had four hits, all singles, and two RBI.
The Tigers' lone run came on a Tony Taylor first inning triple and a wild pitch by Lemonds, who pitched seven strong innings.
The Tigers (41-30) managed just five hits and didn't get a runner to second base after the first inning.
